What is Specsavers like as an employer? What is Specsavers' vision for the future in the field of eye and hearing care? Does this, both now and in the future, match my ambitions? In order to answer these questions from professionals, this large optics chain has already organised four events together with Dutchwebshark.
Specsavers as HRD and recruitment specialist
Together with Dutchwebshark, we organised events for different, often difficult to find, target groups, such as retail partners, opticians and optometrists.
During the events, the participants got to know Specsavers, speed-dated with potential colleagues and shared their experiences with fellow professionals. Arjen Maarse, HRD and recruitment specialist at Specsavers, tells us how he experienced these events.
Arjen: “Together with Dutchwebshark, we organised events for different, often difficult to find, target groups, such as retail partners, opticians and optometrists. All with the intention of introducing these professionals to us in an accessible and interactive manner. The professionals always give us positive, and sometimes surprised reactions. For example, we often notice that the retail professionals are pleasantly surprised about the management of an optician’s shop, especially with regard to the contribution a commercial retailer can make.

The power of collaboration
In order to organise a successful event, we combine the Dutchwebshark process with the activities of Specsavers. Arjen: “The result-oriented approach of the Sharks is very pleasant. We set a goal in advance, for example, that we want 20 participants at the event. During the process, we keep an eye on whether certain activities are working or not. For example, do we have to adjust certain requirements or do we have to look at other, creative ways of doing things? It is important to think outside the box and try different activities. We continuously challenge each other and in this way, we achieve our goals together.”
“I like the fact that Dutchwebshark collects and records a lot of soft data during the entire process. Of course, the recording itself is not very difficult, but it is important. The first analyses of the data mainly confirmed our assumptions. Now we are seeing a nice trend: the image that people have from Specsavers is becoming increasingly positive as a result of the events.
